Rockstar Games’ official GTA VI site now lists a watercraft called SHITZU SQUALO with a description that explicitly mentions fishing in Gambit Bay, a detail some players point to as possible evidence that fishing will be a gameplay activity. The text appears on Rockstar’s vehicle entries page and has reignited debate over whether fishing will be implemented.
Speculation about fishing in GTA VI has circulated for years, including a 2022 Reddit screenshot showing a character in a fishing pose. Official roundups of confirmed features still do not list fishing, and Rockstar has not used direct developer statements to confirm the mechanic. GTA 6 remains scheduled for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Rockstar's watercraft entry that mentions fishing
The SHITZU SQUALO appears under Rockstar’s watercraft listings and includes the line:
"Perfect for fishing in Gambit Bay and catching all kinds of fish, this pink and blue gradient Squalo docked at Washington Beach has been prepared for the open sea with a weapons case full of explosives."
The wording comes from Rockstar’s own GTA VI site and is visible on the vehicle entry page, which lists other in-game transport and flavor descriptions.
Why the text does not equal confirmed fishing gameplay
Item descriptions can provide world-building or suggest possible activities, but they do not necessarily describe full gameplay systems. Rockstar often uses evocative text for vehicles and locations that may refer to scripted scenes, ambience, or single-use interactions rather than a fully featured fishing mechanic.
Until Rockstar states that fishing will be a player-facing system, or demonstrates related UI, animations, rewards and mechanics in official previews, the reference should be treated as suggestive rather than definitive.
How this fits with earlier screenshots and coverage
The older Reddit image from 2022 and the new Rockstar description together strengthen the possibility that fishing exists in some form within the game world. However, major summaries of GTA VI’s confirmed features, such as coverage on GameSpot, still make no claim that fishing is an implemented gameplay system.
What to look for from Rockstar next
An explicit confirmation would come from Rockstar itself, ideally via a feature preview, developer commentary or a gameplay trailer that shows fishing mechanics in action. Until then, the SHITZU SQUALO entry is best seen as an official hint rather than a formal announcement.
For now, fishing in GTA VI remains unconfirmed: the vehicle description adds weight to speculation but does not replace direct confirmation from Rockstar.
